Weighted Courses |
The weighted grade concept is designed to encourage and reward students for attempting a more rigorous academic curriculum. Grades are weighted in designated courses by adding points to the numerical six weeks average. Honors classes will receive 3 points and AP classes 5 points (enabling a student in a Honors class to obtain a maximum 6 weeks score of 103 and in a AP class a maximum 6 weeks score of 105) and by increasing the quality point value in determining GPA (an A in a Honors class is assigned 4.5 quality points and an A in a AP class is assigned 5 quality points instead of 4 quality points for an A in a regular course). We have Advanced Placement Courses in English IV, English III and U.S. History. Honors Courses include Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Biology II, Geology, Calculus, Pre-calculus, Physics, Spanish III, English IV and Advanced Algebra/Trig. |
