  •  
  • The University of TN at Martin awards some Freshman Communications Scholarships to students who are interested in broadcasting, journalism, public relations or visual communication. Six $500. scholarships will be presented. Applications are due by Tuesday, April 1, and may be picked up in Mrs. Martin’s office.
  •  
  • Seniors planning to attend UTM and who have a 3.00 gpa may apply for the Kiwanis Club Scholarship. Preference is first given to Key Club members. Due date is April 2, 2008. Mrs. Martin has the forms.
  •  
  • Seniors: Drs. Forbes, Merwin, Youmans and Miller will award a $2000. scholarship to a senior student that is a current or former patient of FMY Orthodontics. The deadline for submission is Monday, April 14. See Mrs. Martin for the application.
  •  
  • Any senior interested in cosmetology may get an application for Arnolds Beauty School. One senior from each area high school will be awarded a $1500 tuition scholarship in the fall. See Mrs Martin.

  • The TN Marine Family Fallen Heroes established a scholarship fund in 2006. Award criteris includes, grades, rank in class, test scores, community service/ leadership positions held and awards. Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited TN University or Trade School. See Mrs. Martin for an application or go to www.tnmarinefamily.org.

  • The McCabe/UT Martin Scholarship was established in 1996 by a generous anonymous donor to help West TN students obtain a college degree in order to better their community and state in the future. UT Martin students who attend McCabe United Methodist Church will be given priority.

  • The Pearl Hayes Memorial Scholarship is given to an African American enrolling in college. Mrs. Martin has applications

  • The Harold Conner Scholarship for students attending UT Martin ranging from $500 to $3000. is for students with a 21 ACT and a 3.25 gpa. Preference is given to students from underrepresented groups, students with financial need and first-generation college students. Mrs. Martin has these applications.

  • Seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in science or a related field may apply for The National Youth Science Camp, a 3 week program that is free. Applications are found at www.nysc.org or see Mrs. Martin if you have questions.

  • The SAMMY 2008 Awards are available on line at www.bodybymilk.com for outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12. A $7500. college scholarship from the Milk Processor Education Program, a trip to Disney World for winners and parents and a picture in the USA Today for the Milk Mustache will be given to 25 winners. Judging is based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service and milk experience.

  • Vincent Implements gives a $200. scholarship to a graduating senior who will be attending UT Martin. See Mrs. Martin for the information.

  • High School seniors may enter the 2008 Labor Essay Contest by writing an essay on "What Organized Labor Means to Me". The deadline is April 11 and the length is 300-500 words. The scholarship is worth $1200.  See Mrs. Martin for the information. 
  •  
  • The Linda Vowell Cantrell Memorial Scholarship is available in the guidance office. This scholarship was established after her death to commemorate her love for teaching and education. Students applying do not need to be already receiving automatic guaranteed scholarships like the Deans or Chancellors Scholarship plus the lottery. The selection committee desires to award deserving students who are below the very top of the class and who are in financial need.

  • The following 3 scholarships are sponsored by TSAC (TN Student Assistance Corporation): Applications are online from the Westview High School website (click on guidance office, click on the link that says College Pays TN and click on scholarships) or Mrs. Martin will print you one
        1.  The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship is available to seniors who have a 3.5 cumulative gpa or a 3.0 to 3.49 gpa and a 24 ACT.
        2.  The Ned McWherter Scholars Program is for seniors who have a 29 on the ACT and a 3.5 gpa.
        3.  The Dependent Children Scholarship Program is for a TN resident and a dependent of a law enforcement officer, fireman or emergency medical service technician that was killed or permanently disabled due to an incident that occurred in the line of duty while employed in TN.

  • A $1000 scholarship is offered to a high school senior in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi or Tennessee to attend a college in one of the Deep South states. He or she must pursue a course of study in a garden or environmental related field. Applicant must have B or better average and be in need of financial aid. See Mrs. Martin for an application.

  • A & F (Abbott and Fenner) Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors. To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the 2 topics listed on their website at: www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm or see Mrs. Martin for help.

  • Nurse scholarships given in the Military Science office include full tuition, $1200/year for books, a monthly stipend and a commission at the completion of the BSN. Click here for more information.

  • The Elks Association Nursing Scholarships are available. See Mrs. Martin for information.
  •  
  • Seniors may apply the the McKelvey Foundaation Entrepreneurial Scholarship if they have owned and operated a business while in high school. Apply online at: www.mckelveyfoundation.org
  •  
  • The Stan and Thelma Plumlee Scholarship is available to seniors who live in a manufactured home or have a relative who works in the manufactured housing industry in some way. This is an $8000.00 scholarship over a 4 yr period if the gpa is maintained. Students may see Mrs. Martin for an application.

    Gateway Testing
     
        To raise the academic level and performance for all high school students, the Gateway tests must be passed in order to receive a regular high school diploma. The three tests taken are Algebra 1, English II, and Biology.
